Tenderstem veggies are always my favourite, and although griddled with a little oil and sea salt is my go-to, sometimes you want a little more flavour. These sweet and spicy veggies do just the trick.

I have always loved harissa since a visit to a Tunisian market many years ago. The complex chilli flavoured paste is great as a marinade but also a deliciously potent side dip.
This marinade blends the fiery spice with a sweet hit of honey. This side dish goes beautifully with lamb shawarma, but is also delicious served alongside roast chicken, or chopped into couscous.
Ingredients:
Serves | 3-4 (as a side dish)
120g fine asparagus
120g tenderstem broccoli
1tbsp rose harissa paste
2 tbsp honey
0.5 lemon, juice only
1 tbsp olive oil
Method:
Mix the harissa, honey and lemon juice in a bowl.
Coat the vegetables with the marinade, and leave to soak in the flavours.
In a frying pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil to a medium-high heat.
Add the veggies, leaving the remaining marinade in the bowl.
Pan fry the veggies for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally.
Pour the remaining marinade into the pan and allow the sauce to simmer for another few minutes whilst the veggies finish cooking.
Bon appetit!
